Why Recycle?
Currently there is a huge trend within the clothing and fashion industry to recycle, re-use or share and swap clothes to ensure the items last for as long as possible and doesn’t go to landfill. At Thimbelina we have been working with many clients to re-work, remodel and reuse their existing items. We also can create all our bespoke clothing out of eco-friendly material. Remodelling is actually changing the design of a piece of clothing. An example of remodelling an item of clothing is when a lady brought in two sample wedding dresses as she liked parts of both of them, the team were able to create one stunning dress that was exactly what the client wanted.
Remodelling can also include adding sleeves to a dress instead of wearing a jacket, other remodelling services include overlays, beadwork, neckline adjustment, waistline adjustment for pregnant ladies and much more. All of the above services also make the dress or clothing item unique.

Recycling & Upcycling.
We understand that certain items of clothing hold memories, especially items being passed down through the generations and memorable items such as jackets and dresses. We encourage our clients to recycle and upcycle items as often as possible. Upcycling is where you use an existing item of clothing and change it into something else.
Examples of this are wedding dresses into christening gowns, mother or grandmother wedding dresses being reused as the daughter’s wedding dress, wedding dresses being transformed into dresses for the races, prom dresses shortened to party dresses and so much more. Also when a member of the family passes away we can upcycle favourite clothing items like jackets and dresses into other items to ensure their memory lives on.
